Will CB radio make a comeback in London ?

After years of being off cb radio i've started to get flashbacks of the good old days (mid 90's in East London)
I know the internet has killed CB radio off,i've been told there is not one person left on cb in East London,i think alot of people still have all their gear packed away, the question is when will eveyone start unpacking the gear and get on it ? I think we all know the answer  to that.

The only way i can see it happening is if the internet goes down for a long period of time, now comes the question will the internet ever go down ? It can and it might is the answer to that.

Let's look at others factors, first of all who in this moden day would want to put a 18 foot antenna up ? Not many people.

Even if people come around to that idea they would still have to deal with the white noise levels that are present on cb radio in London today, that would be more then enough for them to switch the cb radio off faster then they switched it on.

See with people today it''s all about image, they are sheep,if a celebrity say like David Beckham was to get a cb radio you can bet your life on it cb radio would because very popular, that's not going to happen so we have to be realistic here,cb radio is dead and will remain dead untill the internet goes down, unless uhf cb comes about, now that is something i can see taking off, small antennas,no white noise = great, only problem is we don't have uhf cb in the UK and there are no radios,so it's back to square one.

  1. it is coming back in Essex and Kent, switch it on and you'll see, lots of people are coming back on out of curiosity. You can get out a lot further now due to the free channels. Dust off your radios, get those antennas back up!

  2. 27.555 SSB Freebanding is still very active in the UK. The conditions have been so good in past months you can DX the world with only 100 watts or less.
